  PIE

12   cup sugar
3  tablespoons flour
14   teaspoon cinnamon ( dar chini )
14  teaspoon  nutmeg
18   teaspoon  all spice
18   teaspoon salt
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apple1 egg

TOPPING

23  cup packed brown sugar
12   cup all purpose flour
12    cup butter
14    cup toasted pecans, chopped

METHOD

PIE

1.      Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6.
2.      Sift the flour and Sugar  into a mixing bowl. Add diced butter to flour and mix it .
3.      Sprinkle five tablespoons of chilled water and mix to make a dough without kneading much. Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a ball.
4.      Roll out one portion on a lightly floured surface to a disc of about twelve inches in diameter. Use this to line a nine-inch pie dish, easing the dough in carefully so that it does not get stretched.
5.      Trim off the excess dough. Roll out the remaining dough to a rectangle of one-eighth inch thickness. With a sharp knife, cut out half inch strips.
6.      Cook apples with half a cup of water till all the moisture is absorbed. Set aside to cool. Add cinnamon powder ,all spice and nutmeg and mix.Take the lined pie dish, spread the apple mixture over it and sprinkle Sugar  over the apples.

TOPPING

1.      Stir together brown sugar, flour, and oats.Using a blender, cut in the butter until topping resembles coarse crumbs.
2.      Sprinkle over apple mixture in pie.
3.      To prevent over-browning while baking, cover edge of pie with foil.
4.      Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
5.      Remove foil and bake 25 to 30 minutes more, or until top is golden.
6.      Remove from oven, Cool on wire rack about an hour and serve!
